Steve began his career in Event Safety and Security in 1996 when he joined Bristol City FC and Bath RFC as a Safety Steward on match days. He quickly worked his way up the ladder and completed his Level 2 in Spectator Safety in 1997. In 1998 Steve joined a local security team and along with the Bath and Crime Reduction Partnership he formed the Bath City MarshallScheme (Pre SIA) where Security Officers and Paramedics are deployed in small groups to provide extra support to the Doorman at licensed premises. This quickly grew to include Taxi Marshalls and Bus Marshalls in Bristol for Badgerline Buses.
After the SIA (Security Industry Authority) was formed in 2001 Steve participated in one of the first BTEC Level 2 courses and obtained his first license in 2003. He continued to work at various festivals and licensed venues until he left in 2005.
In 2010 Steve qualified as a Trainer and gained his Level 3 PTLLS. He then went on to qualify as an NVQ Assessor in March 2011. Stevespecializes in teaching security qualifications such as the SIA licensed courses in Door Supervision, CCTV and Close Protection. He assesses Spectator Safety at various sports stadia and delivers Counter Terrorism Awareness for football clubs including AFC Bournemouth. Also he delivers NVQs in Event Safety to various blue chip companies across the country.
Throughout his careerSteve has supported a local charity and planned/organized various events. He is able to conduct risk assessments, manage staff at events of up to 100+ and liaise with other agencies such as Police and Ambulance Services.
In 2010 Steve was asked to help run the One Day International Cricket where England was due to play Bangladesh. In 2012 Steve took 100 stewards to the London 2012 Olympics and supervised 2 of the major zones within London Hyde Park at the BT London Live Site for the duration. Liaised with police and other organizations during de-briefs and produced post operational reports.
In addition Steve has gained qualifications in Close Protection, Health and Safety, First Person on Scene and Advanced Child Protection/Safeguarding. Steve is also currently working towards his Level 4 in Internal Quality Assurance and Level 4 in Spectator Safety Management where he hopes to become a Safety Officer of a well-knownFootball Team.
